the fifth two pieces of my new Lolita dresses collection inspired by the Swan Lake <3
are you a white swan or a black swan? =)
Picture of me =) this is a sailor uniform shirt I made at school! So much time and efforts, but it turned out well <3
These are first two piece of my new Lolita fashion collection, and the theme is the Swan Lake~ I have the idea to make for every white Odette inspired dres, a dark twin Odile inspired version, so I’ll upload them together in the same picture
I hope you like this <3
I tried to reinvent every decade of the past century~ It’s been a good exercise, because I studied every different silhouette and looks and lifestyles.
The designs may be not that reinvented from the original trends, but it’s also about the reinvention of women.
From left to right:
40s - A woman that has to face with World War II. At home she had to be the mother and the father, because men were at battlefront. Dark colours, elegance and seriousness. Dior is the new fashion choice.
20s - Boyish style. Tall, slim silhouette with short hair. After the World War I people wanted just to party everyday, it was the golden age of USA, until the stock market crash in 1929. Chanel queen of fashion.
70s - Saturday Night Fever! Very similar to the 20s with the party-all-night concepts. She want to be free, to see the world, to keep up the feminist revolution started in the previous decade. Yves Saint Laurent style.
10s - She’s still linked to the old Victorian style, but something new is about to start. The dresses are more simple, with less decorations, flat skirt and less opulence.
30s - The stars of Hollywood started to shine and influenced the fashion trends: Jean Harlow with her blonde platinum curls and white fur, Ginger Rogers with red. Some women started to work.
60s - Women revolution! Some started to wear pants or mini skirts, shocking society. Mini colorful dresses, big sunglasses, hairspray, Audrey Hepburn, the Beatles, psychedelic era and hippies.
90s - Flowers, denim, mini tops and low waist pants but also all-black, posh spice style. Violet lipstick, glitter and shiny skin. A woman that is finally free to choose between many kind of looks and ways to appear. Let’s not forget about Spice Girls, Aqua, the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears!
50s - A new, modern era just begun, after the dark times of the world war, but the woman is still under man’s control and authority. She must be a perfect housewife and mother, and look always good and happy. Dior ruled the fashion world, the New Look.
80s - Rebel yell! Girls are tired to obey and satisfy the expectations. They mixed and matched new outfits, always trying to look different and crazy, Punks were everywhere, everywhere music, everywhere clubs. MTV, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Grace Jones, Tina Turner, soap operas like ‘Dinasty’, yuppies and wannabe-rich-and-famous.
First piece of the new fashion project: reinvent fashion styles from every decade of the ‘900.
These are the 40s~ it’s not actually much reinvented because that project idea came just when the design was nearly finished, but I wanted to include this work in the collection anyway.
Fashion designs collection I made at school, with traditional means! The teacher asked me to make something sporty, colorful and pret-à-porter but still original and special. I decided to add a modern/futuristic touch
Two fashion designs for school inspired by Moulin Rouge and can-can dance, I’ve always been in love with Moulin Rouge! I hope to go there one day!
